The personnel of CP Energy collectively possess over 130 years of experience executing and managing transactions in the energy sector. We have assembled a unique combination of business, legal, analytical, technical, and engineering expertise to analyze, execute and manage investment opportunities in the energy sector.
Ben Jacoby Mr. Jacoby has over 18 years of experience in the development, financing and asset management of independent power generation facilities, and is a co-founder of CP Energy. Prior to CP Energy, he held various positions with Enron Corp. from May 1998 to February 2003. As a Vice President of Enron North America, Mr. Jacoby was responsible for certain power project development and wholesale origination activities. From 1990 through 1998, he held various positions with KENETECH Corporation, an independent power producer with a significant presence in the wind power sector. As Vice President of KENETECH Corporation, Mr. Jacoby was responsible for wind project finance activities including project debt and equity syndications. During his career in the energy industry, Mr. Jacoby has originated, negotiated and closed a wide variety of transactions having an electric generation capacity in excess of 5,000 MW and a value in excess of $5 billion in the aggregate, including wind power, geothermal, solar, and other renewable energy technologies. Mr. Jacoby earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Southern California in 1990, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of California at Santa Cruz in 1987.
Martin J. Pasqualini Mr. Pasqualini has over 16 years of experience executing a wide variety of project and structured financings, including extensive experience representing sponsors, equity investors, lenders and construction contractors in connection with the development, financing, operation, acquisition and disposition of domestic and international power projects. Mr. Pasqualini has negotiated and drafted debt and equity financing documents and the entire range of project documentation (power purchase agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, wind easement agreements, construction contracts and manufacturer's warranty agreements) associated with the development and financing of wind-powered electricity generating projects. He has worked on energy projects throughout the continental United States and has also worked on energy projects in Puerto Rico, Jamaica, Costa Rica, Scotland and the Dominican Republic. In addition, Mr. Pasqualini has been a member of the board of directors of PowerOptions since his initial election in 2000. PowerOptions is the largest power buying group in Massachusetts, with more than 400 members and annual purchases totaling $250 million in electricity and $10 million in natural gas. Prior to joining CCA, Mr. Pasqualini was a Managing Director in the Tax Products Group at BTM Capital Corporation and was formerly a partner in the Project and Structured Finance Group of Bingham Dana LLP (now Bingham McCutchen LLP), an international law firm based in Boston. Mr. Pasqualini earned his Bachelor of Arts, summa cum laude, from Boston College and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He earned his J.D., cum laude, from Boston College Law School. He has been a member of the Board of Overseers of Boston College Law School since 2005.
Brian Redmond Mr. Redmond has over 18 years of experience in the development, structuring, financing and management of power plants, pipelines, and gas storage fields, and in the marketing of wholesale power and gas, and is a co-founder of both CP Energy and Paragon. He has held positions as President of Houston Pipe Line Company and President of Louisiana Resource Company, Managing Director of Enron, and Executive Director of UBS Warburg Energy. Mr. Redmond's experience also includes over six years of international experience with Enron Corp. where his responsibilities included all asset development activity in Indochina, the Middle East and Turkey. During his career Mr. Redmond negotiated, financed and successfully closed transactions with an aggregate value of over $5 billion where he was responsible for debt and equity financing documents as well as the core project documents including off-take and supply agreements, operations and maintenance agreements, easement agreements, construction contracts and manufacturer's warranty agreements associated with the development and financing of both fossil fuel and wind-powered electricity generating projects. In addition, Mr. Redmond has extensive experience representing sponsors, equity investors, lenders and construction contractors in connection with the development, financing, operation, acquisition and disposition of both domestic and international power and gas projects. Mr. Redmond earned his Master of Business Administration from Harvard Business School in 1990. In addition, he holds a Masters in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Virginia Tech.
James R. Stahle Mr. Stahle has been actively involved in the structured tax and non-tax finance business for over 21 years. His primary experience has been focused on the institutional investor marketplace, providing advisory, syndication, execution and portfolio management services to large U.S. investors. As the Managing Partner of Commonwealth Capital Advisors he oversees the current advisory platform, as well as new business development and acquisition strategies. Prior to establishing CCA, he developed the Institutional Advisory platform for structured products at BTM Capital Corporation, a subsidiary of The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi. He was involved in the development and syndication of a number of structured debt transactions such as resource based loans for an independent exploration company, as well as the execution of large scale infrastructure financings involving transportation, generation and transmission assets for U.S. and foreign companies. He is a graduate of Colby College.
Megan H. Lawrence Ms. Lawrence joined the CP Energy team in 2006. Prior to joining CP Energy, Ms. Lawrence was an attorney in the Project and Structured Finance Group of Bingham McCutchen LLP for 8 years. At Bingham, she represented developers, equity investors, and lenders in connection with transactions involving a broad array of energy projects, including wind, biomass, hydro, fossil fuels, and waste-to-energy. Ms. Lawrence also has significant experience working with start-up companies and on debt restructurings in the energy, rail, and industrial equipment sectors. Ms. Lawrence has a B.A. from Boston College and a J.D., summa cum laude, from Suffolk University Law School.
Kenneth B. Newton Mr. Newton has over 20 years experience in the areas of real estate finance and development, project finance, equipment leasing, and structured finance. He spent 14 years in private law practice and has spent the last seven years as an advisor to major equity investors in domestic and cross-border structured finance transactions. His legal experience provides an important perspective to the team approach to transaction structuring and execution. Mr. Newton holds a J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School. He has an A.B. from Cornell University, an M.A.T. from Brown University and a Ph.D. from Boston College.
Michael A. Feng Mr. Feng joined the company in 2003 and is responsible for economic modeling of energy and partnership transactions as well as developing other structured finance products. Prior to his tenure at CP Energy, he spent two years in the Tax Products Group at BTM Capital Corporation, where he helped develop and execute various tax-intensive asset finance transactions. Mr. Feng has also held positions at TenFold as a software developer for trade-order management systems, and at Harvard University, where he taught geology, chemistry, and statistics. Mr. Feng is a graduate of Harvard University with highest honors in Chemistry.
Greg Krause Mr. Krause has over twenty-five years of energy industry experience in business development, project development and asset management. From 1993 to 2003, Mr. Krause worked in various commercial roles for Enron Corp., which included transactional and asset management support in connection with the sale of both domestic and international assets of Enron Wind. His accomplishments in the energy industry include development of a 510 MW simple-cycle power generation facility in South Florida. He also has relevant experience in the acquisition, development and divestiture of energy-related assets. Mr. Krause earned his Master of Business Administration from the Cox School of Business at Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science in engineering from Texas A&M.
Stephanie S. Prevost Prior to joining the company in 2008, Ms. Prevost was a Vice President in the real estate department at Capital Crossing, a division of Lehman Brothers Bank, FSB, where she managed ongoing intake and disposition of commercial real estate assets throughout the country. Ms. Prevost was formerly an attorney in the Project and Structured Finance Group at Bingham McCutchen LLP in Boston where she worked on both energy and real estate project financings. Ms. Prevost has a B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and holds a certificate in Business and Public Policy from Wharton.
